Many families in the ghetto live in chaotic conditions. Often they have no birth certificate for the children or are not even registered with the authorities. Many parents don’t know how to organize that and are not able to keep a date with or regulation of an authority. Many of them are illiterate and are not able to fill in the simplest forms, which is why they fail to get their children to start school.
In all these problems we support the parents by both word and deed. There are not only regular information meetings but our collaborators also explain to them, if necessary, what steps to take with the authorities. We also help them with any correspondence. Through this, the children can officially be registered with the authorities – a condition required to enable them to receive health insurance and the right to social welfare. The co-operation between the authorities and our collaborators works very well.
LITD looks after the medical treatment for the families as well. We take care of the children taking part in medical check-ups, going to the doctor’s, or to hospital if necessary and the medicines they need.
LITD works together with the health centre of the 2nd Baptist Church in this field.
