During these lessons children and young persons are brought into contact with the Christian faith and the contents of The Bible in an informal atmosphere. There is no pressure on them, whatsoever, to be converted. The children and families we are in charge of have often had bad experiences with fundamental Christian sects. So it is our intention to correct the wrong image of God and the church shown by these sects.
This valuable work is done by a local committed voluntary collaborator who comes into the ghetto from her village 35 km away several times in the week to look after the children.
Through the parables and stories in the Bible they get to know Christians ethics in a new way. So they are made aware of their own worth and the worth of other human beings.
Teachers and parents are really enthusiastic about the positive changes in the children. So an inconspicuous group becomes an important building block in the work in Varna.
Three times a week the children take part in a children’s service or a meeting of the youth group. Apart from that reading the Bible is offered in Romanes and Bulgarian. For the young people there is a special Bible study two days a week.
Every morning we pray for ill people in our neighbourhood and in the world. Through our praying for health we have already experienced some healing. Once a week a service takes place in the ghetto.
