We have been considering for some time how the various smaller branches of Light in the Darkness could be better organized and reliably financed since coming into contact with a German Children Relief Organization at the beginning of 2009. This organization gives support to more than 2,000 children in five countries, including Bulgaria.
In the beginning it was difficult to find a common factor between our unconventional way of working and that of an experienced relief organization. Looking back we can now say that the effort has been rewarding. Both sides have gained much from this co-operation and are glad to have found a reliable partner.
Following a visit from one of the relief organization’s representatives and further co-ordination, the range of our work was trebled. Today, this organization supports us at all levels including our house groups, school preparation, schooling and the leaving certificate together with the feeding programme.
Other projects, like Bible studies and social services, are still financially supported through personal commitment of groups and individuals. This support – which has existed since the start – is still very important to our work in Varna.
